The time is fast approaching and before you know it I will be boarding a plane to NYC for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! As many of you know, I am the type of person that has to plan well in advance to avoid anxiety. I already have my suitcases set out and starting to fill up with items I am bringing on my trip. My list has been prepared for some time now, but the real preparation is in full swing. So I am here to teach you all how to prepare for a big event like NYFW.
1. Write out a list of items that you want and need to bring. This will include everything from clothes, shoes, make-up, hair supplies, personal care, electronics, etc. I like to go through and check things off as I put them in my suitcase.
2. Have your week of events planned out to help you get an idea of what kinds of outfits you would like to wear. Check the weather!!! You do not want to be stuck wearing a blazer when it is 100 degrees and humid outside! I know I will be attending fashion events so I want outfits that will be very fashion forward. However, I also know that I will be doing a bit of walking around the city so I have to bring back-up shoes. It rains in NYC this time of year so I am packing a poncho. You laugh but when my well planned outfit stays completely dry and yours gets drenched, I will be the one laughing.
3. Try on all of your outfits a week ahead of time! This is vital so that you have time to get anything fixed or dry cleaned that needs to be. This also gives you some time to go shopping for shoes that match, or the proper under attire to wear. For example, I know that I need to get rubber pads installed on the bottom of my shoes to protect them.
4. Begin packing your suitcase. You can do this the day before. I like to start a few days before so that I can pack and re-pack if need be. It also helps me get all the things together that I may need, paperwork, business cards, camera equipment, etc.
Best of luck to you all!
Happy packing,
Laura

Great advice. I really like the fact that you are wearing simple, colorful dresses instead of layers upon layers of trends.
Thank you Kathleen!
Like I mentioned in Tuesday’s post, it’s much more important to me to be comfortable and confident with what I am wearing then to try and follow the crowd. All of these dresses are so beautiful I cannot wait to post pictures for you all!

Great tips and some really cute bags!
I learned the lesson to try things on the hard way several years ago as I arrived at my destination with a couple of things that just didnt look as good with some of my accessories as I thought they might. I was lucky enough that there were some great shops near by.
I’m not going to NYFW, but will be there for IFBCON next week. Have a great time!
Hi Corleen! See you next week at #IFBCON !!
